Kinesiology is one of those therapies that you may have heard family or friends talk about but you don’t know much about it. Even those who have had a treatment find it difficult to explain what it is however they will talk about how they feel after – lighter, clearer and less stressed.
What happens in a session?
Once you arrive, you will be given a Client Information Form to fill in. This gives you the opportunity to think about your goals and raise your concerns. Upon completion, your practitioner will discuss the form together with you in greater detail. Your practitioner will then help you work on a goal, something that you want to achieve from the session.
Now most of the work takes place on a massage table, fully clothed. Your practitioner will then start to do muscle testing to locate any imbalances in your energetic field. S/he may follow a variety of different protocols and delve further in order to bring the stress to the conscious mind, connecting an emotion to a time or place, past and present. The client usually remembers things they may have forgotten or are able to connect the emotions from one time to another. When emotional stress is brought to the conscious mind, it is easier to integrate and release.
During the balance or session there are many remedies used to help the mind, body, spirit & emotional system heal and restore.
At the end of the session, the practitioner will always revisit the goal and have a chat about how the client is feeling, what has been achieved in relation to their goal and discuss any home reinforcement or lifestyle changes recommended.
After the session
Everyone’s balance is unique to them so you may have experiences after from increased energy, improved mobility and a sense of peace to vivid dreams and unexplained crying from whatever emotion was being dealt with in the session. I encourage my clients to drink lots of water, finding time to rest after the session.
Most clients walk away feeling lighter, clearer and calmer, as if their issue isn’t weighing them down any longer. Some clients feel better in some ways but will only realise the changes when they are faced in a similar situation and handle themselves differently. And some clients have had some emotional effects from an intense kinesiology session. They’re just a result of the body re-organising its energy systems and integrating the healing process.
If any negative experiences lasts longer that a few days, contact your kinesiologist for further advice.
Where to from here?
If you are new to kinesiology, I recommend an initial 90-minute kinesiology consultation followed by 3 - 4 standard consultations 1 -2 weeks apart.
After that, standard consultations should be every 2 – 4 weeks apart or as needed. I hope this has helped you understand what a kinesiology session looks like during and after a balance.
If you have any questions for me, I’d love to hear from you.
